The Media Production Show… and a Resolution quiz!

Posted on: Tuesday 5th of June 2018

MedProd-Show-13-June-152_webNow in its third year, the Media Production Show (MPS), on June 12-13, is the two-day annual event showcasing talent and technology across the creative industries. The event features a packed seminar programme that is free to attend, featuring some of the biggest names in the industry: they will share valuable insight, knowledge and creativity.

This year, there’s a brand new Audio Zone and Theatre (in partnership with – yes! – Resolution Magazine and the IPS Institute of Professional Sound); Charlotte Wheeler, event director, says:

“Resolution and the IPS, their advice has been invaluable in making sure the speaker programme and zone activities will offer relevant, exciting and valuable content for audio professionals.”

The Theatre will cover topics including ADR, audio over IP, audio post and location sound, and there will be a mix of technical seminars and audio case studies from recent film and TV pro-jects. AMPS Fellow Chris Roberts will lead a panel on the role of the sound editor, examining practical elements, such as dealing with bad rushes as well as looking at some specific produc-tions. “We are also pleased to welcome freelance dubbing mixer, ADR recordist and sound editor Emma Butt, production sound mixer David Lascelles, and Ben Newth, head of audio at Clearcut Pictures,” says Wheeler.

The Audio Zone also features ‘demo pods’ where companies including Noises Off, Jigsaw24 and Syncbox will bring their latest audio technology for visitors to play with. A number of audio technologies will be presented including immersive audio, 3D audio and vir-tual reality, and there will also be several special areas where exhibitors can demonstrate im-mersive hearing experiences.

Dave-R-17-7-17-webResolution can also reveal that at 4pm on both days it will be hosting the Pre-Pub-Post-Pop Quiz. “It’s going to be a bit like a quiz I used to host in Frankfurt,” coughed Resolution publisher, Dave Robinson.

“Except, you’ll need to gen up on your Pro Tools 12 dropdown menus, if you want to win one of the prizes donated by Sennheiser and HHB Source.

“Oh, and your knowledge of Skrillex.

“And the capital of Sri Lanka.”

MPS is hosted and organised by Media Business Insight (MBI), the publishers of industry titles including Screen International and shots. This year’s event is on 12-13th June at London Olympia.
